London Analogue Festival

In an increasingly digital age it's easy to forget the wonder of all things analogue. That  wobble on the  screen, the needle on the record and the spools in a camera suggest a bygone age when we could actually understand the technology we were using. To inject new life into the disappearing art of analogue, two Goldsmiths students have decided to organise the London Analogue Festival, a two day event that will feature works in film, photography and sound. The festival will take place in various venues in New Cross / Deptford on September 7th and 8th 2013. If you're interested, they're currently seeking submissions.

New cinema for Lewisham?

It looks like plans are being hatched to open a new cinema in Lewisham. Since the Catford ABC closed its doors in 2001 Lewisham has been one of only two London boroughs without a cinema (the other being Waltham Forest). This new development, if it goes ahead, will be on the site of the soon to be closed Ladywell Baths between Catford and Lewisham Town Centre. The folk who run Hither Green Hall Cinema have got together with Curzon cinemas and are currently talking to Lewisham Council about making the move from swimming pool to silver screen.
